In the last years, the sister island of Malta, Gozo, attracted hundreds of visitors during the Christmas period. This is due to the fact that numerous Christmas-related events are organised during the month of December 2021 and the beginning of January 2022. The events range from Concerts, Crib Exhibitions, Christmas Parade, Christmas Pageant, Holy Night Mass, Children World (Fun for Kids), Christmas Villages to the Adoration of the Magi.
In the following paragraphs, we are going to mention well-known events that you should visit during this festive season. Furthermore, we will also be providing you information that you might find useful during the Christmas period.

Official Opening of the Christmas Festivities
The official opening of the Christmas Festivities will be held on Sunday 29th November, 2021 at Independence Square from 19.30 onwards.
Children choirs will be singing Christmas carols during this opening ceremony. The Minister for Gozo will switch on the Christmas tree, the lights of the main street of Victoria, Republic Street and also other various street decorations in secondary streets around the capital city.
A 3D mapping light show on the facade of Banca Giuratale will follow.
Free mulled wine or hot chocolate and other local delicacies will be offered to all people present whilst being entertained by Ira Losco and Band featuring Matthew Jones, Michela and Melissa.

Concerts, Pageants and Musical Plays
During the months of December and the beginning of January, numerous concerts and Musical Plays with the participation of well-known local and foreign choirs, local bands and local performers will be organised. These performers or artists will perform concerts, pageants or musical plays related to the Christmas season. These events are held in different architectural Gozitan churches and chapels, squares and halls.
Cribs Exhibitions (Il-Presepju)
One shall visit the various mechanical and static artistic cribs exhibitions which are scattered around the island. One can witness the details of each crib narrating the story of the Birth of Jesus.
The island of Gozo also hosts the Live Nativity Scene most notably Betlehem, organised in Ghajnsielem. Furthermore, in other villages such as in Nadur and Xaghra, there will be also Live Nativity Scene where one can visit during this festive season.
During the month of December, one shall also visit the numerous Christmas related exhibitions where the exhibitors will exhibit items related to Christmas and churches.
Children World (Dinja tat –Tfal)
Children are also invited to visit the Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria on Saturday 18th December, 2019 from 10.00 till 19.00 in order to experience the Children World. Here, children will have the opportunity to meet well-known animated characters and also have fun in the numerous of activities and games prepared for them including unlimited rides, face painting and arts and crafts, amongst others. In case of bad weather, the event will be held along Wileg Street in Qala.
There will be number of Christmas villages in the centre of Gozitan villages throughout this period.
Holy Night Mass
A Maltese Christmas tradition is the Holy Night Mass celebrated in each chapel or church around the island on Christmas Eve. Before the Mass, the traditional sermon of the Child recounting the birth of Baby Jesus will be held in the parish church.
Adoration of the Magi
The Adoration of the Magi held on Sunday 2nd January, 2022 will close this festive season. The Three Wise Men will make the triumphal entrance in the Live Nativity Scene on the feast of Epiphany. The Three Wise Men will offer their gifts (Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh) to Baby Jesus. This public manifestation will be held in Qala, Xaghra and also in Betlehem in Ghajnsielem, Gozo.
